Building self esteem with printed photos

May 26, 2015

Do you know that it has been found that displaying printed photographs of your child builds their self esteem?

“Displaying photos prominently in the home sends the message that our family and those in it are important to one another, and we honor the memories we have experienced,“ says Cathy Lander-Goldberg, a licensed clinical social worker and a professional photographer in St. Louis, Missouri.

Additionally, Krauss recommends having photographs of that child with their family placed in the child’s bedroom so it can be among the last things they see before sleep and the first thing they may see before beginning their day.
“It says we love you and care about you. You’re important.”

I personally feel that the most important characteristics for our children to have is a confidence and a healthy self esteem. My home has always had printed photos displayed of my children, you will have seen some of them before you walk into my studio. I hope they have helped build their self esteem but I also know they have bought me more happiness than they would have sitting in an album or worse still on my computer in some long forgotten folder!

Even if you only print 6 x 4's of your images it is well worth printing them out and placing them on the fridge, I know every newborn shot I have taken would bring a smile to your face.  And you know what?  When you are travelling to the fridge blury eyed, in the middle of the night, because bub isn't sleeping a gorgeous photo showing you just how cute baby actually is might be just what you need!

Oh and big sisters love to make monster faces at our sessions so here is one of those to brighten your day!
